The Artisan Touch: Traditional Hot-Stamp Debossing

Unlike laser engraving, which burns through fibers, or superficial ink prints that wear off over time, we use the time-honored technique of heat and pressure debossing.

Each layout is carefully composed by hand, letter by letter, using solid brass typography. Heated to precise temperatures and applied with calibrated pressure, the brass stamps leave a clean, recessed impression into the grain of the leather without ever compromising its durability.

Finishes & Materials: We can leave the impression natural (blind debossing) or apply a metallic foil in copper or silver. Because each leather responds differently according to its temper and grain, an initial test on a leather swatch can be carried out to validate the final rendering.

What can you have stamped on your leather item?

1. Initials (The Timeless Classic)

From 1 to 3 uppercase letters (e.g., AC, JML). Perfect for a clean and elegant touch on a wallet, cardholder, or strap.

2. Short First Names

Set with an uppercase initial followed by lowercase letters (e.g., Leo, Emma, Julie). We recommend short names (up to 6–8 characters) for optimal visual balance.

3. Stamping Finishes: Blind, Copper, or Silver

Choose between a natural blind deboss or an eye-catching metallic foil in copper or silver.

4. Placement & How to Order

This artisan service is completely free on all store orders and custom bespoke pieces. Leave your desired text (and preferred placement, if any) in the order notes box at checkout, or send us a message via the contact form. If no placement is specified, the artisan selects the most harmonious spot.

Workshop Note: Stamping sets include alphabet letters only (no punctuation or numbers: dates cannot be debossed). Based on our brass typography sets: no more than 2 times the same letter in uppercase, and no more than 4 times the same letter in lowercase. As results vary depending on hide temper, a preliminary test on a leather scrap can be validated together.
